Joy Pereira After 7 years of interviewing top CEOs, Creatives, Leaders, Experts and being a digital producer, I continue to see individuals in this realm that seem unable to move in agile ways to the next opportunity, move across to new and exciting industries or put themselves “out there” for growth.
I understand the problems faced with fear of judgement, and lacking confidence but equally present is the lack of acknowledgement or anchoring in how incredible these skilled people really are. I’ve done this myself on a quest to be egoless. I get in, get the job done, receive excellent reviews but have often shirked our dismissed the flowers and praise people have sent my way. “It’s just my job” or simply “I do what I do” have escaped my lips on occasion. This robs us from full embodiment of our talents and experience.
I have evolved to accept, integrate and amplify these offerings of support, recommendation and acknowledgement. It is an important part of the entrepreneurial spirit and necessary for you to leverage your position, receive funding, opportunity and more. This goes beyond the standard Linkedin post and exceeds the sameness in an AI driven landscape.
I use to avoid talking about myself. It’s a real cultural handbrake to a world where you must be front of mind to compete with those more digitally agile on socials. It can feel hopeless if you are in an organisation wondering when your big break, promotion or recognition will come in. In many cases it never does. In many cases you are never able to be seen or head hunted, if you are tethered to a role or in the usual circle that are not change makers or growth seekers. I know how important it is to get yourself in front of a different set of thinkers and listeners.
My role is to position you as an innovator – in your current environment and amplify the possibilities. It is inner work, but there are methods and solutions to:
be seen
use your voice
spark change in your team, circle or industry.
